What is considered high revs...428 big block

Certain everyone has a different opinion, but for a stock FE 428 cruising at a constant 60 mph, what would you consider high rpm's??? 2,500 rpm, 3,000 rpm, 3,500 rpm's ????

Anything over 2,000 would get old to me.

Then change your screen name to "Miataman'-it's the essence of what Cobras are. Don't just 'think' about it-try it. You can't be a 'Cobraman' and be disturbed by 2500+ RPM-and that's my opinion based on having done it for 20+ years.

Miata's are much quieter..

Oh, I love the noise and winding up the engine and listening to the music, I just don't like turning high revs cruising on the highway. At 2,500 rpm I think I'm doing around 80, although you'll probably correct me. 3.31 rear end, .82 overdrive gear.

Cobraman428 where is the power for this motor produced? Talking Torque? Do you have a camshaft profile card for the motor. 428 is a good torque motor but wouldn't to a 6,000 rpm beater. What gears are in the rearend? what trans are you running? with this info we can give you alot better idea of what rpm to be running. If you are running 60 mph and have a good torque motor, about 2,200 rpms is ok, you want to be between 500 and 750 rpms into the torque band of the motor. Rick L.
