You guys are relentless. Wifey mailed it back to Smith Bros so we should be getting answers end of week.

How does a guy get his wife to turn wrenches on his car, while he's out entertaining? She is really something special

She is a trooper; she waited until 125 mph to shout, "Should I be scared?" To which I replied, "Honey, its too late be scared. We're already there."

Okay guys, here's the update from Pierre at Smith Brothers:

"It appears to be a defect in the rod that we missed during assembly. Not sure its a crack [yet] but its definitely not something I'd want to leave in my engine either."

These guys are first class all the way. I highly recommend them if you need pushrods for your build. The quality is excellent, communication is great and needless to say customer service is A++++

So, talk amongst yourselves.

Dang. I'm still predicting that the final report will be that it is purely cosmetic.

He said it was definitely NOT just cosmetic. Its either crack or surface irregularity caused when they pressed on the end and said he felt sure it happened when the rod was made and they just missed it.

Talking The winner is common sense

Patrickt Here's the tough part, you may still need a group hug. John's motor is running good, 1 small POSSIBLE failure problem was removed from the equation. In the end Common Sense won. Rick ( I a am sometimes right) L.

What is the quote that one of the members has in his signature line - "The worst thing is the part of the argument when you realize you are wrong......"

You couldn't have a group hug yet anyway because at least ONE member of your "group" hasn't reported in here yet. Do I hear footsteps?

Yes, I can only hope he's misplaced his spectacles and that this thread passes him by before he can place his smelly little fingers on the keyboard again....

That's like hoping your name just happens to fall out of the property tax database.

Well I didn't and I'm glad to pile on here.

Once again Karnak has spewed BS knowledge imagined in that vast, empty warehouse known as his mind.

You have an unblemished record for dispensing total popcorn disguised as technical expertise-with authority I might add-to the great amusement of only you.

The good part for you is you've succeeded in adding another hundred or two posts to your count. You must have been Entertainment Director on the Love Boat in your previous life.

Default More

I only bought a medium size popcorn Wonder if the concession will give me a refill?

Jim, do you plan to mount the pushrod? (taxidermist - not you, physically ) Maybe you could award it to the grand Puubah, who ever that turns out to be

I don't even see this crack were talking about, BUT,

Quote:
If you hear a little voice buzzing in your ear, LISTEN TOO IT.
You can't argue with that advice! The problem is it can lead to "paranoia". A push rod is easy and cheap enough to deal with, but other "little things" can turn into multiple voices in your head and then it can be hard to know where to draw the line.

MY LINE is: If my motor's gonna blow this summer, I hope it blows in time to get it rebuilt before SAAC 35. So, I'm showing it no mercy at the present time and will slack off a little as the date approaches. If it blows at SAAC, well, at least it will be a good show.
