Back to the transmission. I think there is a 6 speed box that has a 1.0 4th, a .82 5th, and a .64 6th, or there abouts. It's likely the cost for that transmission isn't but a few hundred more, if you haven't purchased it yet. It sure would give you more options to keep the revs down at many speeds.

It's so much fun to spend other people's money (I think I'll run for congress).

Hey thanks. I got some things to look at now.
Here is a shot of Rob Frink's wind deflector. As I recall, he reported that it worked surprisingly well. You know, you could make something like that, that was quickly and easily removable for the highway, really easily.

Almost every car built since the mid 80's has tryed this combo in both cars and truck, IT DOESN'T LAST. Head gaskets are rubbed until either outside leaks or internal leaks.
I don´t think so. A lot of iron + aluminum combos are running trouble free all over the world. In germany - with no general highway speed limit - too. Take good head gaskets and you´re doing fine.

Keith Craft is building me a 468FE with Pond iron block, Stage-2 heads and solid flat tappet cam right now. As patrickt said: The shorter 4.125 stroke let the motor rev easier and piston speed is lower. OK, 482 has a bit more punch (especially torque), good for a cruiser, but with a cobra I will not cruise all the time and a 468 burns the tires too.

Just my -,02.

Greetings from germany, Stefan

I have a TKO 600 with a 3.31 rear end and a .82 5th and its fine in all gears and is great on the highway. The only time I get any buck as Patrick described is if I idle along in 1st gear without touching the accelerator. But a little bit of accelerator and its fine.

I must correct an earlier misstatement quoted from the 3rd post (when this thread was still on topic).

Barry made 753HP at the EMC at 505 cubic inches.
He only made 678HP at 434 cubic inches.

The topic may have wandered from topic, but the information was really good.

There is a lot of good knowledge on this site.
