Default FE coil mount on 2 x 4 intake

What type of bracket is being used on the dual quad intake or block to mount the coil and where? I'm having a hard time seeing a coil in most of the pictures I find. I've seen single bolt coil brackets (for a Mustang I believe) and two-bolt coil bracets.

I found one picture that looked like the coil was partly hidden under plug wires on the front driver side of the intake. Can't see the bracket clearly however.

Same here, lots of aftermarket brackets out there for the mounting too.

DanEC , don`t kn ow how accurate you are trying to be , but Ford originally bolted the coil to the front of the driver side head as the others have said , but used the bracket that held the fuel filter/can as a stop/locator . The original bracket had a little tab on it that acted as a stop against the fuel filter bracket . My Galaxie is that way and every 427 I`ve seen is also set up like that . I know Donahue Collector Cars in FL has those brackets . The thing you would need to check is coil diameter vs the I.D. of the bracket as some of the aftermarket coils are a different diameter than the original . Most are bigger and will work ... the smaller ones cause a problem .

You want to keep an oil-filled coil vertical. As said go on the front of the head, not the intake.

This is an early picture when I was doing placement layout but this is where the coil lives now, although turned more upright.

Dearborn Classics also has original style brackets, but sounds like they have been modified to adjust to different coil diameters.

What I meant to type was do you have a pic of the coil bracket mounted to the fuel filter bracket vs on the intake as most do when using the fuel filter cannister?

Actually that's a great pic. Thanks for posting it. I did not realize that was an option for mounting the coil when using an original-style fuel filter cannister.
