Best FE Valvetrain for Mechanical Roller ?

Curious,......Best brand and why ?

New 427 side oiler.
Either 482 or 496 cubes.
Mechanical roller cam.
Ability to use in higher rpm. (6,000-7,000)

Rockers- Brand and either bushed or roller. Aluminum or stainless.
Push rods- Solid or oiled.
Springs-
Lifters-
Valves-
Guides-

Look at the T&D rollers. Oiling through the push rod is also a nice upgrade.

Second vote for the T&D setup if they are in the budget and build plan. Some fairly serious machining is required to use them with Edelbrock or OE heads. They are a bolt on for Blue Thunder heads.

The pushrod oiling is a nice feature if the block permits. Again an easy deal on aftermarket blocks, 390 blocks, 428 blocks, and some 427s. Factory undrilled solid lifter 427s will not allow this without more work.

Whenyou're "stuck" with the OE mounting provisions I have had decent luck with Ersons as long as spring pressures are moderate (+/-600 open), and with the Dove HD stuff as well. The T&D is way better though....

The best out there for the FE with a solid roller are the T&D hands down. We keep them in stock and have used them for years. Set many NHRA National Records with them on the engines. There will some other items in year valavetrain to take care as well so that you have a trouble free combination.

FUNFER2 Kevin, if money is not a problem T&D or Jesel would be the first choice. I have the T&D setup going on motor #2. You will need to get machine work done to those heads for the base support plates. Once this is done you can't go back to the shaft setup.
If we are talking about bolt on kits, Erson wins out. Running them going on 4 years and no failures yet. H&S have been around along time and some guys have had good luck with them. The FE MAX and Shelby look good but price, IMO too to high. I would look at any rocker with bushings for where the shaft rides. I don't like aluminum on steel shafts.
The other thing is how big the camshaft is and spring pressures closed and open?? I am not a big fan of turning motor 7,000 rpms. You didn't say what you where looking for, HP or Torque? You can build a nice 482 with 4.25 stroke and 4.28 bore. This will help the heads work better and make more power. Build a durable motor and limit the rpms to 6,500. This is not a SBC or SBF. Good machine work, oil pressure in the 70's, and a cam with .650-670" lift will make a strong motor. More than the cobra can handle. Talk to barry R. about location of the heads on the block for power improvements. He did this for the EMC motors. Rick L.

Great information guys. I would so far, prefer the Blue Thuder heads & intake, with head flow numbers over 400,...... are you kidding me. That's great.

I'm shooting for 625-650 HP/TQ.
No need for really high lift on the cam or spring pressures. I have Ersons on my 428/iron heads, solid flat tappet, with no issues for several years

I'm in contact T & D, Erson, HS and POP, to see what they can do for sponsorship for this build.

Question- What do you like better, bearing rollers or bushed ?
I talked with Doug from POP and his bushed rockers (and shaft) that have a oil ring to supply oil.
