Default Comp 294S owners check in here

I have 3600 miles on my side oiler with this cam. I like it, but am curious what others have experienced with respect to manifold vacuum, carb selections and tuning, head selections etc. With stock MR heads and a Sidewinder intake mine only makes about 7-8" Hg at idle. Sounds cool and makes excellent power but has presented some challenges getting the carb set right at idle and transition, in particular the Holley 3255-1.

50 looks and not one Mary Comp owner...
Us he-man UltraDyne guys would kill to see vac numbers of 7 or 8.

You can get a regular (not smooth) idle mix and good transition-I have it. I'm maybe 3/8 turn out from seated on both of them and just touch 7".

You gave Keith your numbers and he can't find the sweet spot?

Looks like you already cleaned your engine bay with it. You should make the bold move and actually drive that car.

I still think the fins in your water pump are upside down. I bet if you flipped them over your vacuum would improve.

-and accurate valve covers and less roll bars.

Dude, I tried to get you some knowledgeable help on here but all we got was the Felix Unger of replicas.

Seriously, I've got a little bit bigger cam and the low end of your readings but it carburates perfectly.

My current carb issues aren't directly related to low vacuum. But low vacuum tends to make more complex the delicate balance between idle position screws and transition slots etc. I've managed to get this damn Holley 3255 "project" running quite well on this engine thank you very much, 30 hours and several hundred dollars later I might add. If my day job goes to hell, I am opening a carb shop.
