Default 428 fe intake gasket recommendations

What is the best gasket out there?

my fel pro z1247 print o seal moved and leaked around the ports, but I did not gasketnich them down. I guess I should have.

victor reinz (dry) I think are leaking, some plugs are rich while some are lean.

What works the best? Thanks.

Want me to bring up valve cover gaskets again?

I have heard good things about these from guys in our local club, one of which who just blew out his fail-pro print-o-leaks on his 482 FE:

Victor Reinz, VR2000 series, steel core, teflon coated with 1.45" x 2.40" port sizes. He got them from CarQuest, part number MS 15166X.

I use a variation on the Fel-Pro 1247 that has a steel liner. It was the last part number I added to the fel-Pro line before my departure.

Due to oil leaks along the back rail or at the corners at the back of my 427SO, I removed the intake (for Weber 48IDA) and replaced the intake gasket (SCE) with a new Fel-Pro 1247S-3, which has a steel liner and Print-o-seal on both sides of the gasket.
When taking off the intake manifold screws I noticed some of them comming off with difficulty, especially the short ones at the back. I did mesure the length of the screws and found out that most of them where almost hitting the bottom of the hole or very, very close to it. I presume that the intake manifold was never really tight on the heads, possibly the reason for some high oil consumption and leaks.
I took the screws to the lathe and turned 1mm off all the screws.
When mounting the manifold using the new Fel-pro gaskets, which I did put on dry except for RTV dabs at the corners and all along the front and back rail, one of the short rear screws pulled the threads.
The threads were allready damaged by tigheting the screw which was too long and hitting bottom, ripping out the threads.
I had a propper V-Coil set for 3/8" threads at hand and fixed the thread on the head in no time.
I hope that now my oil problems will be something of the past.
Checking the lenth of the bolts and the depth that the head holes will accept should be something to be checked if problems with the intake gasket exist.

The ones that I just used are a proprietory set from KC. Matched the ported Ebock heads and the end tabs perfectly, Of course I only have about 2 hours on the motor to.

Those are custom made for Keith by Cometic. I'm running them too and also have a spare set. In the case of the FE, the secret's in the installation.
