I would feel quite comfortable with these. In fact, they're probably better than our Ersons. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CSP-S4006NBK/

Rod-How much abuse do you heap on your valvetrain with a juice roller? Besides sounds like Barry will produce something we'd all like to have. It's a 'someday' thing-I'd wait unless you're going racing.

We actually agree on something??

Let see if Barry weighs-in and gives an opinion on them. How 'bout you Brent?

Never used the H/S FE stuff...but used them on small blocks. I like them, they're good quality parts.

However, for that price, I'd go with the T&D's. If you're going to pay $1200, might as well go for the best of the best.

I have dreams.

But, for the time being, all my racing occurs in my mind when I go out to the garage on the weekend to lift off the car cover and gaze at my car for a few minutes.

While spending $40K on an all-aluminum SOHC engine is presently out of the budget, I don't mind spending a few hundred extra buckeroonies on better pieces here and/or there. Patrick's recent upgrade to a Romac balancer has me thinking too.

I can certainly wait. BTW, do the Sharp's require head work?

Do Jessel's rocker arm setup enter the conversation anywhere? I remember looking into them, but I think they were over $2,000+ plus the head work.

If you have a no-name balancer on there now, I would strongly urge you to upgrade. The choice of the new balancer is up to you (I do like my Romac) and if I was putting it in for you I would guesstimate two hours of my time to do it. You could just wait at the shop while it was done.

I would say yes. Having previously run them on my big block GM marine engines I bought a set of Jesels on eBay while collecting parts for my FE build. They wound up being for the Edelbrock heads and i went with Ford MR heads so I sold them and went with Erson, with which I am very happy. But like the ones for my boat, the Jesels were incredible in terms of workmanship. Both of my marine engines were run haaaaard at 6500 rpms in the ocean and I never had one single valvetrain issue in 300 unforgiving hours. But you're right, they are $2k.

If your E'brocks take MR stands then they do not require work. They bolt on stock MR's and Shelbys for sure. I used the same length pushrods as well.

Jessels are a premium piece that I have seen in SBF and BBC applications first hand. Didn't know they made FE sets. They're a match for the T&D reputation. Mariachi gives good testimony to their quality too.

By all means, change the damper if there's a doubt. But I'm gonna put the hook in you--don't get a Romac, good value as they are. Get my shiney, gleamy, light, IW aluminum damper. Made of your favorite material and in perfect keeping with your less-is-more theorem.

Brent, thanks for chiming-in on the HS's.

Found these on Jegs; H/S full roller design $713. No indication of what head they actually fit though.

Cool! When can you fly out?

I'll have to head back to your thread and reread, but Chas's aluminum dampner or damper could be the ticket. I have a Professional Products, I think, which I believe Brent said was fine for non-racing apps. Had I the presence of mind at the time of my engine build, I would have happily paid a few hundred $$ more for an upgrade. There were many other places I could have cut corners, but didn't.

While I understand that the Ersons are great, I know I have a set, if something is discontinued and is a good part that I may need in the future, my first reaction and/or tendency is to try and hoard a remaining set "just for giggles."

I actually considered buying a new SOHC front cover newly made by Robert Pond not too long ago, based on the hope and prayer that I'll get a chance to build a Cammer someday. I didn't though. Sound reasoning must have come over me.

I would be happy to fly out. Of course, you wouldn't get my "mechanic's rate." You'd have to pay my "other rate." Same number, but the decimal point is moved one place over to the right....

So your mechanic's rate is $5.00/hour.

And Summit has them for a few buck less:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CSP-S4006BK/

Strange, Jegs has a description error. It lists them as 1.73 ratio (the stock non-adjustable ratio) when they're actually 1.76.

They don't list aftermarket head fitment but they will fit factory heads. You have to specify which 'rise' head to get the correct stands which are included in this kit.

Knock,

How about if I got you a smokin deal on a new set of T&D's?

That price is without end stands though.. You'll need to anty up another hundred and fifty bucks more to get them.

Personally I like(d) Erson's needle bearing vice bushing design. If you'll notice, Harland Sharp's "plus-up" design are needle bearing rockers too.

It looks like they've targeted the Eboks for them.

I think the Sharp rockers are pretty good parts. The ones without end supports are not going to be "the ticket" though. They have been making FE rockers as long as anybody. As for opinions - I consider these to be equal to or a touch better than the Dove parts. The beauty of the Ersons was the bolt on and go package.

Brent, a very kind offer. I'm almost afraid to ask how much? If you like PM me a price and I'll sincerely consider it. But, the main reason I was considering purchasing a 2nd set of the Ersons is because they are being discontinued, they bolt-on, and having an extra set around the garage just in case sounded like an idea, maybe not a good idea, but an idea.

I smell a group discount.
