Default Backfiring Cured!

I have had a backfiring issues during deceleration shifts, etc. Thanks to some informative posts it sounded like it was either an exhaust leak or a distributor cap issue. (I am running a MSD 8594 Distributor, MSD 6AL, and a MSD Blaster SS Coil).

Well, I tackled the cap and rotor first. I discovered both were in bad shape. The cap had a green metallic power and the center button was totally worn flat. The rotor wasn't as bad, but it was rusty and warn.

I switched out the cap and rotor and no more backfiring! Many thanks to those folks that talked about their backfiring issues. I wish I could thank them personally, but I couldn't find the post again...lol. I hope this post helps someone else out....I have posted the pics of the cap and rotor in my gallery and hopefully I can add them to the post. My first post. Great forum...many thanks...Shawn

Thanks Rick...I'm a little rusty, but four years of auto shop had to pay off sometime...at least I can still turn a wrench.
