I have an old D4TE block that has the reinforcement webs. This block is already 030 over. I have heard mixed reviews on boring them any more than this. I was told that these blocks had thicker jackets and could go bigger on the bore. Looking for some good reference before I make up my mind to scrap it or keep it.

The only way to tell for sure is to sonic check. I wouldn't use it or pitch it based on what's said in a book.

You should be fine with a little more overbore, but as Dave says, it would be best to have it sonic tested to make sure.

I would just overbore to do a clean-up...no use in really trying to go wild with the boring -- it will just net you a few cubic inches. If you're really wanting the cubes, throw a stroker crankshaft in it.

Went back and looked and this block was .040 over not .030. I'll try to find someplace near that does the sonic check.
