No you fool-this is a v/c gasket thread. He puts that between the head and the v/c gasket...PAY ATTENTION!

I'll bet he bought their "spectroinclinomediamometer", which he uses to measure the color refraction off of the Canton oil pan bolt heads.

Its been a long day, I wore myself out earlier building that FIA car in my head (inside joke.)

You put that Habanero sauce anywhere near an FE and you're guaranteed another 30 HP.

pentroofs leak. you can try some of those spreaders we used to see on 327's

the other thing is to use the double THICK gasket -- or a pair of gaskets per side to absorb the ramps between the intake and the head in the front and rear of the FE cylinder head.

Mikes Hot Sauce "I put that **** on everything!" All kidding aside, try Permatex Hylomar. Real stickey stuff, but the gaskets can be removed and re applied. I have used this stuff on intake manifolds and valve cover gaskets and no leaks!

So DC-what's the answer??

Did you fill the head/intake joint or are you waiting to hear more magic solutions?-and forget trying the double gasket remedy. If one gasket won't conform to the step, neither will two-even at double the torque. A few guys have given you worthwhile help-now what do you tell us???

I am going with your suggestion of R/S with cling wrap to prep the rail joint. Then with either the Felpro blue stripe or Felpro rubber (I will probably give the blue stripe another crack). R/S to glue the gasket to the cover and then hot sauce for the gasket to head seal.

Actually, Elmariachi Jim is sending me a tube of brown OG grease and then I will use that for the gasket-head seal.

I didn't do either the rail joint prep or use the right grease last time, so hopefully that solves the issue.

Maybe Patrickt will let me try his new tool since I will check my lash at the same time.

I used feelers last time and think I did a good job (actually outstanding, but I was slow). But the tool does look kind of cool and might save me some time having to re-adjust when the lash changes as you lock down the nut. I got better at compensating for that, but still took me a long time to get all of them so they felt like they had exactly the same resistance on the feeler.

You can over-worry this stuff. Use the feelers and the more you do it the more natural and faster it gets. Plus you will improve the accuracy by feel. Every-day engine builders do this in under 10 minutes. And they are accurate.

In case you're doing each cylinder 90 deg around the firing order, there's a much faster way. If you know this already, I apologize-just trying to help ya.

Set #1 cylinder to TDC compression and adjust the following valves:
#1-I & E. #3-I. #4-E. #5-E. #7-I. #8 I & E.
Set #6 cylinder to TDC compression and adjust the following valves:
#2-I & E. #3-E. #4-I. #5-I. #6-I & E. #7-E.

I just saved ya $250 so put that towards a Patek for your Ms

I do know about this method, but was doing it the long way to be sure that I did it right as it's pretty hard to screw it up the slow way.
