Mine just barely fits...
The phenolic is worthwhile too and solves the pcv valve issue.

ok if you run a spacer they reccomend the 4 hole type where would you put the nipple? would it go in one of the rear holes or would you have to install it in the middle so it uses both holes?. i think they make a aluminum one but wouldnt that defeat the purpose for heat soak, i would think the composite would be best?.

The old school 830 seems to work very, very well in numerous applications. I've run several on the dyno with pretty good results. I use and sell a lot of Quick Fuel stuff and its also pretty darn good - just cosmetically different. For some guys that is important, for others less so.

I generally go big on carbs. I spent a few years working at Holley and I can make a big carb drive just fine - but have not mastered the art of making a small one "big".

How much of the engine do you have finished? You may be putting the cart before the horse with carb spacer selection, carb selection, etc. I never put all of my eggs in one basket with a carb spacer and to make a generalized statement that "...this spacer will always work in this situation" is a great bit presumptuous.

I really wouldn't hamstring myself by having to have a spacer with a vacuum nipple in it. If you're going to buy a custom carb from someone, it's easy to just tell them to put all of the vacuum ports on the carb. Then you can mix/match spacers all you want....or choose to run without one.

the engine is done , i just painted the block the other day a lot harder to do when the engine is assembled it took me 1 1/2 hours to tape every thing off, i have been out of work so no money for a new tko 600, i have a 3550 on my 342 now.
basically it is a 72 390 block .030 over steel 4.250 crank, eagle 6.7 h beam rods, diamond pistons slight dish, keith craft stage 1 heads with a little more work done, crane t bar lifters, erson rockers, comp hydraulic roller .598-.618 lift 230 238 duration 112 lobe center, ported performer rpm manifold, ram aluminum flywheel, big block chevy performance clutch. i am running a 400 hp 342 stroker with mass flo fuel inj, i have to change the fuel pump in my fuel safe cell, select a carb pull the efi harness out and just wire a new circuit for the fuel pump and install a msd 6al box.

You must have got the flywheel and clutch from Mike Forte...

Sounds like a very solid, streetable engine. You should post some pics of it. Very mild cam, the engine will probably be done by about 5000-5200 rpm.

With that focus on a mild, streetable engine, I think a nice 750 mechanical secondary carb would be my choice.

yes i bought the clutch and flywheel from mike, when i originally planned out the motor i was going to use mass flo fuel inj on it so that was the cam keith picked out, i had a victor series efi manifold and 42 pound injectors but i sold all the efi stuff to go carb.

hopefully this week or next week, i am running irs so i have been running 600 pound coil overs with pro shocks frnt and rear, i am hoping to be able to sell the 342 with trans so i can buy a new trans and carb for the 445 but the 342 now has 12,000 miles on it . its amazing i built the car i 2004 registered it oct 2005 and i already have 12k on it.
