Default any msd distributor experts?

i pulled the gear on my msd 8594 distributor so i could instsall the new crane steel gear, i wasnt paying attention and sheared the thrust collar pin when installing the new gear. does any one know if the thrust collar has 2 littlr grooves 1 on top of each side of the roll pin hole?, and 2nd is there anything special about the thrust collar spacer. if any one has any pictures of a unmolested spacer i would like to see a picture.

Is this helpful at all? You can blow it up, rotate it, and see just about anything (click on the 360 view). Good luck!

I'm not sure I understand your question. Isn't the collar roll pin the same type of spiral pin that the distributor gear uses? Why can't you just replace the sheared collar pin and then measure the specs so that they are in conformance?

patrick, the pin is the same size .125 but it is 1 inch long the dis gear is 3/4 long, msd uses a different pin it looks like a double rolled pin the ones you buy at home depot are not like that, also i have .006 side play in the bottom of the shaft where it comes out the aluminum body i called msd threy said it is normal the oil pump shaft would take up the play. i dont think taht souns right i have a lot of money in this motor i want to make sure it will be ok, so far nobody i know has a new msd 8594 dis in stock so they can check it.
msd said those pins are specially made for them i dont know i have to check?.

Order a new MSD 8594 distributor from Summit, compare it to yours, then return it. You might even be tempted to "borrow" the collar pin from the new distributor before you return it....
