ford fe crankshaft and flywheel question

i installed my pilot bushing in the crankshaft tonight, i just wanted to see if my flywheel would fit and it wont fit over the crank hub. i have a steel 4.25 crank i got from keith craft never could get manafacturers name out of them but the flywheel is a ram aluminum 2519. does any one know what specs should be?. i just hope it is a press fit it would really suck if it was not machined properly. other rant my second quicktime bellhousings dowel pin holes are two small and do not fit i will recheck in the morning to make sure the holes are not filled with powder coating.

that flywheel is probably higher end than the crank is.....look for burrs on the crank flange and a decent chamfer on the edge.

crank looks like the dimension is 2.500 (+.000, -.001)

so the flywheel theoretically should be 2.500 (+.001 or .002, -.000) may take some moxy to get it on....

It happens, sometimes the tolerances stack against you.

Take a piece of emery cloth or a fine cartridge roll and dress the inside of the flywheel.

I would suspect it's a SCAT crank if you got it from KC.

it has the weights painted black?, i checked the ram flywheel it is right on spec so i will check the crank. i was surprised the bronze pilot bushing fit i pressed it in with a hub puller, i have heard people were having problems with the pilot busing area not being machined right. thanks for the information.

i think it is a rpm crankshaft, scat did not have a steel crank at the time i bought it.
it is confusing because robert pond motorsports calls his stuff rpm, but i dont they are related.
it must be a offshore vendor?.

RPM that supplies cranks is not related to Robert Pond. The crank supplier is RPMmax and are Chinese parts. Often relabeled and sold as house brands. They had a forged FE crank before Scat did - we usually have to touch grind them, and always inspect them very carefully.

The only place I have seen a bushing problem mentioned was here on this forum. Never had one myself - at least not yet - so I suspect the issue was with a short run of parts that drifted out of spec.

We find ourselves tweaking flywheels just a bit on the ID pretty often. The OE ones always fit OK so I think the problem is in the flywheel more than the cranks. Likely one going to the high ranges of spec and the other going to the low range.

if you have a heat gun put it on the flywheel, you will be surprised how much it will grow, and maybe fit.
