Default FE exhaust header gaskets

Do most of you running FE motors run exhaust gaskets or just a little high temp sealer on the flange?

This is what alot of people are using. Be sure to get the correct ones for your particular exhaust port.

I like copper with the bead around the port.

Default I have tryed both

DanEC. Dan for racing and motor repairs at the track I use the high temp red RTV. It dones a good job if allowed to cure. The matching surfaces have to be true for this to work and last. I have used and stayed with the old white gaskets from Mr. Gasket for my car. I use doubles on each side. When you get them in the bubble pack, I don't split them and but them in water and saok for 10-15 minutes and install. I don't over tighten the ARP bolts and use some anti seize on them. 25-30 ft pounds of torque taking them down like you do head bolts from the center out. Have gotten 7 years out of first set and now 8 years out of set 2. Biggest thing is having the exhaust aligned correct and the load weight split between flange bolts and hanger on muffler. After couple of heat cycles tighten them a little. I hear those Stage 8 header bolts work great. I have not used them. Rick L. Ps I have never tryed a copper gasket on a street motor and again repeated tear down of a motor.
