I think It allows plenty of time for installing parts if the parts are clean and ready for reassembly. It does not need time to "form a skin" like RTV. Nor does it flow like RTV. Japanese manufacturers do offer a similar product to Right Stuff an market it under their own names, such as Honda bond. With all the aluminum used in most import and many "American" engines regular RTV does not form a thick enough seal and when the parts begin to move slightly due to temperature heat cycles, leaks can occur. I will not use anything else.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the help and great suggestions. In the end it was "only" the intake manifold gasket. My first time undertaking this so it only took me about 12 hours. I took the advice from ERA Chas and purchased the the Felpro 1247S3 gaskets from Barry R. I also used the Motorcraft TA-31 to install the gaskets - Thanks again Barry for the detailed installation instructions. I drove the car yesterday and today and she seems to be running better than ever. Hopefully this combination of gasket and sealer will be leak free for a long time...

My pleasure but Barry's experience. Provided you did a careful job, you will not be sorry.

Good job Kevin. I'll take some credit for your mechanical aptitude and confidence. These guys here are sure a good support crew and knowledge base. I see Barry has a good book on the subject near and dear to us.How to Build Max-performance Ford Fe Engines by Barry Robotnik 2010, Paperback | eBay
