Default Edelbrock E-205

Hi.
Did anyone of you test or use the eddy e-205's? I'm not talking e-street or e- cnc.... They are ranked just below the vic jr's performance. Should support some power. Not the highest flow no's, though... They're 750 a pair bare And i consider a pair for a 'budget' build. Will port some & match runners to vic jr size.

I wonder if anyone have some experience with these. Quality?

What valves shold be used? (Lenght)?

And is it ok to redo the rockr stud holes fron 3/8 to 7/16?

Thanks alt.
RS

Never tried a set, but then again I've never been impressed with Edelbrock heads. For that price, you could buy an assembled set of aluminum 200-215cc RHS heads that wouldn't need any work and would easily outperform the E-brocks. You would also be very close to the price of a set of AFR 185's, which again, would outperform the E-205's.

Thanks for your feedback, Brent.

I'm sorry- posted in the wrong forum- too late at night, I'm afraid..... I couldn't find the post this morning- now I know why. I posted a 2. one in the SB forum...

Anyway. Price- wise these are 750 a set, bare. I find the RHS to be around 660+ each, assembled.

As I have all hardware and want to port and build to spec, I think the E-205 would be a good candidate, however I'd like to know more about them before a purchase...

Mod. Might move the thread to the SB forum..

Thanks
RS

It's ok, it shows up on the main page, so it should be ok.

I would still consider the RHS heads at least. I know the E-brock heads are $750 a pair bare, but by the time you buy the cheapest stainless valves, seals, spring seats, springs, retainers, locks, guideplates, and studs (plus convert to 7/16" stud size), plus hone the valve guides and do a valve job, you're going to be way over the cost of the RHS heads, with less performance.

Just trying to be the devil's advocate. Those E205 heads are cheap bare, but when you look at the overall picture, they don't seem that good of a deal for what you get.

In fact, Brent- I've been considering RHS & - by the most- AFR for new complete heads. If I were to just assemble a high HP smallblock "out of the box", I'd go with AFR, no doubt.

I've also considered TF high ports, Victor, Blue Thunder, CHI, Brodix 200's.... all kinds of options. By looking a the combustion chambers and valve (un)shrouding... I'd really like som sub- 20 degree heads. On an all out NA- or maybe silly HP boost- build, I will go "unconventional" head.

For now, I'm doing a cheepo rebuild; nothing pretencious.....
Yeah, i need someone to do the valvejob, so it all depends on what kind of $
it takes.

In fact- I do have some valve- job equipment lying around, but lack stones for 2"+ valves. Neway- tools, you probably know them.

Appreciate the conversation.

The AFR heads perform quite well. The TFS High Ports are even better....and of course an inline head can't compare to a canted valve head, such as the CHI, etc.

Good stuff.

Saw at SEMA Tony Mamo had a set of AFR heads for the 351W Block.
