Hmmm... sorry brother, not sure I like it as much as your current wheel colour.
The current wheel colour ties your black q-jacks, with your fading black sidepipes, and your now infamous foam black padded black roll-bars, imho...
But if your bored, and looking for something to do perhaps you can realign that safety pin that's on top of the radiator, so that it is angled at exactly 37.5 deg just for fun.
How does changing the wheel colour to match the paint job impinge Chas's rule of matching the colors of the roll-bar, q-jacks and side pipes?

Your sketch-up looks fine. Let's just complete this make-over by removing the rubber soles on the roll bars. Seriously, if you must, just reattach them when you have a passenger that worries about basal skull fractures.
We know your skull is fractured already so you don't need one. I flew the thing everywhere for 27 years and only fractured the shift handle.
You're getting close to an 'all-of-a-piece' look now; black stripe, bars, pipes and jacks. Bring the wheel centers to the body, polish the lips and you're very much better.
Just LOSE the foam-it screams 'homemade' to an otherwise beautiful ERA product.
I'm going through the archives now to find you a wheel shot.

Sorry-they're not so hi-res. Taken in 2005 right after dismounting and media blasting centers and full polish.
The open header shot is badly color shifted but you can see how clean the base mag really is.
The full shot is very close on color balance to in-person viewing. Those are Hoosiers at the time and your Avons will look very much like that.
I didn't give you later shots because the centers turn from heat very soon. Aluminum won't do that. "

No good-go for the shade of the rear wheel.
Try to pull the wheels from the full car of mine and match it to a front 3/4 of yours.

That was an RGB rip of the RodKnock wheel, translated to an over-the-counter paint match. I'm afraid to even tell you the name... Duron Barn Rafter.

OK here's a better idea. Call Walt and ask them to make 2 spray cans of your body color. When you get them, pull the wheels, clean them and scuff the centers with red pads. Reclean, mask and lightly prime with Duplicolor, then shoot your body color and be done. Or clear with Duplicolor acrylic clear for easy of cleaning.
Done.

Mock up a piece of cardboard or foam core-same OD as the center with approximate holes for the spokes and stub. Spray beige. Pull KO on one wheel. Place on stub tight to wheel.
Go across the street and see if you like it.
Restore KO before next trip to Oyster land.

Uhhhh, yes. But I wouldn't use that paint. I have all the codes and can easily have it whipped up and spray it on -- it's no different than having the RodKnock wheel color made (easier in fact). I can also have the color made in to a nice alkyd primer that just might give the perfect texture appearance on the wheel. It's just a question of the color. Done right, it could be a relatively easy job.

But TRY it first to see if you like it. Too much work if you don't.
Mock it up as I described. Much better than doing the 4 and discovering you hate it.
Regardless-pull the foam and it will look 100% better...

Well, I'll have some paints mixed up and mock it to see how it looks. The body color on the wheels might look quite nice, if not then I'll try and match RodKnock's wheel pic. But the padding stays....

I don't think there's much you can do improve the looks of your car, except for painting it a different color.
I would definitely call up Fran and get an order in on those new magnesium wheels he'll be making.

Sample Colors
OK, since deep down I have a modicum of respect for Chas' color eye, here's what I did to see if he's right. I shot a large poster board with my car's base color. I then shot the middle third of that board with clear coat flat. So the outer thirds on this pic are base coat only - middle third is base coat and clear coat flat. Now, a flash shot does not give true colors, but what I was really looking for was the no gloss look for my wheels. Not even a matte. I don't know if you can tell that or not from this shot, but it's a nice flat of my base color. I think it will look nice inside the Trigos, but I'll mock it up further.

That's an excellent shot because there are no hands or dogs in it.
I must caution you-if you flat the centers, they will hold the brake dust. Changing and obscuring the color-which defeats your purpose. You'll have to clean them frequently with Castrol Super Clean and strong water rinses. You could buy mags if you want that much work.
A satin or semi-clear is much easier to release the dirt and and is not a glaring, 'blingy' look.

I agree with the sentiment of body colour and wheel colour matching, so Patrick, rather than painting the wheels to match the beige, why not repaint the beige to match your wheels....?

If you are going to change the wheel color, I think think you need to use the same color on the sidepipes, stripes, quick jacks and rollbar. If someone actually makes the mag wheels for RodKnock, maybe that guy could make mag sidepipes, quick jacks and rollbars too.
