I think I missed those two elements on my Chemistry test when we studied the chapter on the Periodic Table of the Elements.

Al vs Mag
Aluminum (6061 alloy) weighs 2720 kilograms/cubic meter and Magnesium weighs 1738 kilograms/cubic meter or 36.1% lighter than Aluminum. That percentage could vary depending on what alloy and how much of it is needed to cast the two materials. It is also possible that the cross section of one of the wheel materials may need to change to achieve the same strength and therefore also affect the weight difference. I think that if the Magnesium wheels were always available, regardless of any weight advantage, you would see a lot more of them because they are just another one of the cool and unique features of these cars.

Well, I did what I said I'd do.
The problem is that my scale wouldn't weigh anything that light (it's a digital scale).

May I suggest an Ironman Scale? It will not only tell you the weight of your wheels, but also tell you your body fat %.

Well are we going to get the dang weights of the wheels or not? Lemmee tell you, one way to get in shape is take those suckers on and off your car a couple of times and lug them around for one reason or another.
