Aviaid 12-qt Oil Pan Gasket
Any good resources on where to find a nice, high-quality gasket for my oil pan?
Thanks,
Nick

I used fel=pro , not cork. sorry can't find part number. Installed with thin coat of ford black rtv. Takes 2 if you are using the windage tray. No leakes so far !

You are correct. I spoke with Aviaid tech, and he said to use Fel-Pro 1817. He also said to use plenty of clear silicone to all of the parts of the pan that mate with the block. He was really easy to talk with and was very helpful.
He said that most people have no issues with the Fel-Pro 1817 unlike other gaskets and it is the one he recommends to everyone.
I hope this helps some people out.

May I ask a simple question? Why a 12 quart oil pan? I'm running an 8qt and I thought that was large.
Just curious.

I did not build the motor...it was on the car when I bought it.
When you have that much oil, you have to change it less often

I keep a spare 2 Milodon gaskets on hand for the eventual day. For an FE, they are part #40450. I also keep a tube of Motorcraft TA-31 silicone sealant in my stash, also for that eventual day. You can get the TA-31 at your Ford dealer. Good nasty stuff. TA-29 is good too. Don't know who makes them for Ford, but never seen better. There are old posts here about all of this.

X2 with the 40450's and TA-31. The bolt holes are very tight on the gaskets-size them individually and carefully.

Fel-Pro 1817 and a tube of the GM sealant .... let dry 24 hours before putting oil in.
