Default 427 FE Top Oiler Value

Good Afternoon,

I have an opportunity to purchase two 427 FE top oiler marine blocks. One is a bare block and the other is a short block. The owner said the bare block was magnafluxed and showed a hairline crack in the valley (seems like this should be repairable). The short block has not been disassembled nor magnafluxed, so condition is unknown. Can you guys give me any idea of what these may be worth ?

Appreciate any assistance

Ted

Hay Ted the value of any thing used and broken comes down to historical value ( this block won 24 hours of Sebring) or if there is no history how much $$$$ to fix and how reliable compared to new block from Pond, Shelby, or some new company called Bear Block Motors. You really need to take the blocks to a reliable builder and have it measured for Wall thickness, bore size, ect....and the value will range from -$250 for taking junk to get checked to $1200 that I see for used stuff on eBay. Just a thought

JGB,

Thanks for the feedback. I passed on these motors as I felt there were just too many unknowns and it would have been somewhat expensive just to get the necessary diagnostics performed.

Thanks again,

Ted
