Last night I noticed the volt meter was at 11 volts while out driving, I turned off the fan (Taurus Fan) and the voltage came back to 13 volts....100 amp alt. Has worked for 4 yrs
any suggestions

Maybe go by a alternator shop or battery place and have them put their tester on the car while it's running, they can test the battery and alternator output at the same time.......

I have the Taurus fan in my car as well. When the fan kicks on I do not notice any voltage drop but, I do feel the idle rpm drop slightly; I have a 140 amp alternator.

Check the fan ground wire, if you haven't done so already.

Depending on the amperage rating of the alt and pulley speed some cars do not charge at idle. If it happens above 2000 rpm there is not enough alt output that could be caused by bad alt, bad regulator or a bad (high resistance) connection on any of the positive or ground wires. A bad battery could cause hi current draw from the alt not leaving enough left over for the fan. Testing each component is the only way to know.

i had issues with the new alt's, the one wires. it seemed a couple high RPM blasts and the insides of the alternator would fly apart....little pieces of plastic coming out....happened twice, the 3rd alternator i got was the one that just failed i had rebuilt with out the Chinese influence inside. but both times charging became an issue out of the blue.

i'll look through my receipts and see who did it....they were in NJ.

One wire alternator outputs are about 1 volt lower that a three wire or any alternator with a voltage regulator.

Make sure your wiring harness is up to the task too. Taurus fan high speed = a minimum of #8 wire. I'm running #6 on my setup.
