well the pics are not much help....will need the casting date which you didn't take a pic of, above the oil filter housing. and the side of the block...to show if it has the side oiler galley.....

however i will say the "I" or "1" on the back of the block is usually on marine or industrial blocks...so it looks like that's the way its going......so far my bets are on a marine block.
the 66-427 is on most FE's post 1966 as it is the core that was used in the foundry for all of them. it appears you have a galley in the back so it looks as though it is in fact a hydraulic block

Need a picture of the driver's side of the engine, plus a picture that's zooming in on the area between the timing cover and the fuel pump.

What Blykins said. I see some nice vintage Holmon-Moody stuff. Don't forget the casting numbers on the intake. A pic of the driver's side of block and the back of the block (without flywheel) would tell us if it's a side-oiler or center-oiler. We are looking for the oil passage running along the side of the block and an oil pressure relief at the lower left (driver side) on the back of the block. I don't see ribbing on the side of the block, which would indicate an over-the-counter replacement block. So far, so good!

Based on the pic of the back showing the two oil plugs at bottom left and the plugs at the cam, it looks like a side-oiler with a hydraulic cam. I'll let Blykins weigh in though...

If my buddy comes thru with a come-along on monday, I'll be able to really put it in the air and get underneath. using a cheap ratchet strap was scary even though I only lifted the engine inches.

You can rent an engine hoist by the day pretty cheap. And safe.
