Default Replacing the bypass tube on an aluminum PI intake

Hi guys,

My bypass tube rotted away, so I am ready to install a new one. However, the new one is way to long and has a slight shoulder on one end. I was told that these are cut to fit, but I don't know which end to cut. If I cut one end, I cut off the shoulder and if I cut off the other, I cut off the lip for the hose. I am tempted to cut off the end with the lip and keep the end with the shoulder since I do not want to put any more pressure on the aluminum than I need to. Comments?

Easiest is to just run a 3/8 NPT through the hole and use a pipe nipple.

Which way did you end up going ? And where did you get that tube ?

The shoulder is to keep the hose & clamp from coming off pretty much like the one on the water pump, but once you put the water pump on there is no way the hose can go anywhere.

His dimensions would be nice to compare with yours.

His is in the picture of his motor sitting on top of his timing cover in his post, which looks slightly different than the one in your link.
