The Shelby block was $5800 a couple of months ago, IIRC, based on their website. At that time, the Pond block was $4700.

If money's not an issue and you're looking for the best you can buy what is best option (putting aside those who want Shelby block for their CSX)?

I understand it's cheaper. But it's made in Asia. Probably more profit in it than the Shelby.

The Pond block requires a little more prep work, but I would put it in top spot on my list.

I don't think the Pond block is worth it now with BBM and Side Oiler being a grand cheaper, Shelby is way to much, I have seen the BBM block and it looks fine plus I have seen a few built and the numbers looks fine... I tried to keep my money in the USA but at this point im will buy the best deal out there when it comes to parts, the Korean quality is there...

BBM does not currently have an aluminum block and won't for a bit.

I heard that they were hot sellers, I wonder why more don't use an iron block, seems like it makes more power and will last twice as long, I wonder if anyone can even feel the weight difference on a street car...

When I was shopping back in the day, the price difference between the CSX and Pond block was about $500 plus the special head studs or whatever. I bought the CSX block because of the additional "heft" (they weigh more), different oiling pattern, and their ability to go out to 527ci, if I ever wanted to go there.
However, at $7K today and the Pond block being over $1,000 cheaper, the CSX block makes very little sense to me anymore, unless you have a CSX replica and want a CSX block for whatever reason.

I think fordracing65 is confusing BBM's blocks for their heads.
The heads are making the rounds with "good numbers".

I'm not a BBM buyer. Every time I hear that acronym, all I can think about is Big Bowel Movement. Just can't do it.

I think that's an accurate representation of the entire Cobra replica hobby.

There's a big difference between posting something on their Web site and actually shipping - in volume. BTW, I just checked the BBM site and it shows the aluminum FE block as 'Out of Stock' - which could mean anything from 'BBM has sold everything they had' to 'BBM is still waiting to release it to the market'.
To the point made by Brent Lykins - how many aluminum FE blocks has BBM shipped? How many consumers and/or engine builders have actually built engines with these blocks?
As Brent is in the business and is on record as saying BBM has not yet released these blocks, I'd be inclined to believe him.

Well, I guess there is always the Kirkham's billet FE block, if they ever actually released it. I remember seeing pics a while back of them making one. Curious how they progressed and if / how they performed?....

Doug (owner of BBM) was on the FE forum last week talking about their order priority on new releases....
They have an early model Hemi block that had to be released first, then they are going to release the aluminum block and a new Tunnel Wedge intake.
There may have been a prototype aluminum block, but they have not released any for sale.

None, they have not released them yet, they have the iron blocks now, in October the aluminum will be released, as per Doug, the iron block and unported bbm heads made 666hp from Blair, which is more than any builder I have seen so they must be good, and Blair is an FE god does not hurt, he could prob make that power with junkyard stuff...anyway it looks good for the fe market...they said that power was a hydro roller also at 6500 rpm which is impressive, those numbers are solid roller stuff...
