Default puke tank level?

Hey guys,
Im new here and not sure if I am in the right place.
I have a BDR with a 427. Its been running on the hot side compared to last year. Last year it was around 80 c. Now its between 90 - 100 c. how full do I need the puke tank to be , and what mix do I use?

1) The expansion tank is "self regulating," in that it will spit out the coolant until it finds its correct level -- you can't really overfill it (you'll just end up cleaning it up off the garage floor). FWIW, my level is about a half inch above the bottom of the tank.

2) 80 degrees is a little cool, 90 to 100 is not unusual in the least. Chances are, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your engine.

Mine runs about 1/2 full and I'm not loosing any water - but my car runs around 80 - 85 also. I only have a 160 F thermostat in it so that could be a bit of it - but once it opens - its open.

... and the higher the water to coolant ratio, the better it dissipates heat. But, the freeze point is higher, so be careful if you're in a state that sees a real winter. If you go with straight distilled water, then make sure you add a supplement, such as Water Wetter, to help lubricate & protect the water pump and what not. In fact, I use Water Wetter along with my 50/50 mix of plain old green coolant. And I flush it all out every three years.

I am not suggesting that you have an issue at all, but; on my 428 FE the engine ran up to 195 to 205 degrees F in the summer months, and would almost over-heat at traffic lights on a hot day.
The timing was too far advanced.
I adjusted it with the timing light at 30 degrees and ran the engine up until I achieved full advance, then adjusted to zero on the timing mark on the balancer.
On a hot day now; the temp is 170 F to 180 F.
The car has a 180 degree thermostat.

I had already installed an advance kit for my MSD distributor and 6A ignition box.
