Default after market shifter

Purchased A 'Dan Williams' look-a- like
cobra shifter with Hurst guts, I've had this for some time and shifting into reverse is still a pain. Suggestions
please.

Default Reverse

I just spent the last two weekends modifing my Hurst shifter to shift into reverse. After "flipping" my reverse lever on my 4 speed top loader, I did not have enough throw on the shifter to get it all the way into reverse. It seems to work ok now.

What set-up do you have and what kind of problems are you experiencing?

I have plenty of throw, just getting to reverse slot from neutral is the problem.
I'll bet the resistance is 40-50 lb. from right to left?.

Default Shifter

HMMM? I would give the HURST tech line a call. The number from the back of their catalog is 216-688-8300 ext 500.

My shifter was old so I pulled it apart to clean and re-grease which I am not sure helped anything. HURST says they do not sell parts such as shims etc. but they will rebuild them for $60.

Yeah, I've had dealings with hurst, not happy with their people. I rebuilt a
V-gate and had a machine shop make
shims, much easier.
Thanks
