Once again, alot of meaningless responses by the aluminum block proponents without a single answer to the questions posed.

I rest my case.

MrMike: Yes. It appears that the poll does in fact show most would prefer the aluminum block. The problem is most of the arguments on which that preference were based are phoney and mean nothing in practical REAL life application. In short, who runs or uses 2000 hp? Lighter weight? Get a SB if weight is really that important for performance purposes. Durability and strength?. No one here apparently drives hard enough to blow the original 427SO block apart. The certainly didn't blow apart at LeMans or in winning 5 SCCA A production titles. No one answered the questions posed in my previous post. Why??? I have to conclude that no one can provide and answer that will support the reason for the aluminum block preference.

Nevertheless, if 2 out of 3 prefer the aluminum block then thats what it is regardless of reason. Granted.

As many admitted their decison to go with the aluminum block was based on the fact they could not find a good servicable original SO block.

Either engine is a good choice. Both engines will provide reliable service and kick butt performance. Granted more time and effort these days is required to locate a good SO block since the supply is drying up. So from that prospective the aluminum block is a viable alternative.

While both engines are good and can provide more performance then most really need, in the end its the original 427SO that is the REAL deal and is the "ultimate" correct engine for those looking to duplicate the original SC in both aesthetics, performance and spirit.

Just remember. When those Cobra admirers ask "Is that a REAL 427 Side Oiler?" please be truthful and just say "no". Thats all we FE guys ask.

I agree wiht almost everything that you said.
However, when people ask me if it is a real 427 s/o I will say, It is even better it is a real Carroll Shelby with CSX serial #.

Mr.Mike: Ok. Fair enough. Your entitled to your opinion. But then if you tell them its better because its a Shelby with a CSX serial # they will naturally want to know why you bought the engine without the rest of the Shelby to go with it!
