Engine Position

I just got my engine in my new Superformance today. It's a 427 FE with dual quads. The engine is positioned in the car so that the valve covers are level. This means that the back carb is quite a bit higher than the front. I thought I read or saw something that said both carbs are supposed to be level and the valve covers slope down slightly front to rear. Does anyone know if this is the case?

I don't think I can do much to change the slope of the engine but I would like to know what other peoples experience has been.

The engine is not supposed to be level, but the carb mounting flange is.
Just put a level on the carb flange.

AFAIK there is about a 7 degree rake.

Same here Jack, install vent whistles if you have holleys?.

Line the motor up so your driveshaft is at a decent angle. You can put shims under the motor mount pedestals as well as the tranny mount to get whatever angle you need. Also, intakes for webers (I know you don't have webers) on FE's come in two styles, the "cobra" one has a slight angle making the carbs angle forward a bit.
