Default Dry sumped, alum FE - who owns it?

Hersh, Scott and myself visited Finishline after the Fling last year. This was sitting under a cover.... any ideas who went to the trouble of dry sumping their big block?

750 HP Hi Craig I am going to dry sump in the spring. Aviaid makes a complete system for FE motors Talk to John Schwartz @ Aviaid@AOL.COM The drive fits behind the balancer and mounts to the right side of the block. How many stages do you want? They are casting for alumium oil pan. I want a 2 stage and the adapter to bolt my P/S pump to the back of the dry sump pump. I like my sweet rack for autocross and roadracing. It makes driving a whole lot easier. Have a couple of FOSTERS, couple of shrimp, And a nice thanksgiving if you do this holiday. 1 note twin turbo's their nice but on a street cobra they hard to control, the boost for an even power flow. John Meaney built a 1300hp twin for the street in a 94 C4 vette. The trick is in the custom long tube headers to the turbos. Hot coating keeps the temp down under the hood, he has only 2 small shields to protect the upper arm bushings. He can bolt on larger turbo's and go to 1600 hp. The car is stock on the outside. I think I will stay with the blower, I can change the drives to raise and lower the boost and have it came in smooth without upsetting the car. It's alot harder with turbos. Have a good day Rick Lake

Rick, the only Fosters I've had in the last 10 years was in Arizona in June. The AZ Cobra guys didn't want us feeling homesick! A very nice thought, but Fosters is a disgusting brew. Gee, it was nice to be so close to those Coronas.... Ahh, that's better!

Americans must really question our taste in beer if you think that we drink that Fosters junk....

Behind the balancer - it all makes sense now!!! Do you have enough material to take off the pulley to keep your blower in line, or will everything need spacing out from the motor?

I've seen photos of that Corvette - what a great car! If I go turbos, I don't think I'll keep the good motor in the Cobra. I'll build a nice replacement longblock capable of 650 - 700 easy HP with the blower and put the good motor into my old Falcon. Let's see what 1000+hp can do to a 30 year old unibody car....

Craig, go to arizona cobra club on this sight. Go to a recent post nasa. There is a picture of Bob Bacons cobra that crashed in turn 1 at firebird. His cobra is as close to a full tilt race cobra that I have seen, lots of bells and whistles. He is running an aluminum fe, dry sump set up. He is on his fourth big block, but I think since he went to the dry sump aluminum motor, it has stayed together. Scott

Hi Guys,

Roy Hunt and the finishline guys had one of their Comp cars at the MiniNats equipeed with the Shelby 427 and the dry sump set up. It was interesting to see the top of the Oil tank protruding from the right front fender and how the drive system was set up. The Comp car uses the Racer frame with out the top roll bar and was very impressive with the Aluminum body wrapped around it.

The Comp car and the full set up can be yours for around $200k....

750HP Hi Craig SORRY about the Fosters joke. Fosters is to Aussies what Budwieser is to the US. Have a Corona with a lemon or lime. That's better. The gear fills the place there the spacer was. behind the balancer. 1000hp in an old Falcon, you better have an tube frame and cage or that car will have the nickname {TWISTER}. I learned this back in 78 with a maverick Al and I put a 351C in that made 560 hp on the dyno. He hammered the car the first time and the unibody twisted and blew out rear quarter glass windows. The roof bent and the car was twisted 1 1/4" front to back. Took the drivetrain scraped the body. It ended upin a 69 fastback. Turbos make the most HP but lag and heat I don't like plus all the pipe plumbing you have to do. The blower can be set up for low or high boost by changing the pulleys, you need 2 lines for the oil, depending on the supercharger and a pipe for the inlet. Getting clean fresh air is the only other thing and a big airfilter. With the ERA cobra I only have a 1/4" from the blower pulley to the cross frame in the car. Everything fits,it's tight Have another cold one, catch you later Rick Lake
