I'm just curious... even though these are NASCAR rods and were designed and used for racing (in the 60's), are they still considered superior to newer rods that are readily available today? I would think that buying newer rods would allow the owner to take advantage of metallurgical advances from the past 40 years. What do you guys think?

Default Strength

I believe the NASCAR rods are at least equivalent to new aftermarket rods from a strength standpoint, the advantage of the new rods is they are somewhat lighter. Probably the most desirable aspect of the NASCAR rods, however, is originality/authenticity.

I've got NASCAR rods with their original NASCAR crank. They are "serious" rods. They make LeMans rods look like toys.

As long as there in good shape they are tremendous rods. IMPORTANT = However, you will probably need the NASCAR crank in light of the fact they were made to mate with the NASCAR crank which has wider journals than the standard SO crank.
