Header Flanges 2 bolts or 4

I started cutting out header flanges the other day and I've come across a bit of a delema. I've got Edelbrock heads with four bolt holes for each exhaust port. All of the headers that I have seen just use the two top and bottom holes which is the same layout that my gaskets have.

Here are the problems:

1. Logic would say that 4 bolts would seal better than 2.

2. I don't know if I'll be able to get all 4 bolts installed once I build the headers, but even 3 is better than 2 if not as good as 4.

3. Are there gaskets available for the 4 bolt pattern?

4. I find it hard to leave a threaded hole without putting a bolt in it.

Maybe number 4 is a personal problem and I should seek counseling.

2 bolts are fine.

If memory serves, the 4 bolt pattern was made to accomodate the cast iron exhaust mannifold that had the bolts located horizontally.

Mr. Gasket #257 header gaskets have the four holes. They're designed to work on the CJ heads which also have four holes per exhaust port. Don't confuse these four bolt holes with those on the GT heads as they are different with the upper top end holes being slightly lower than your conventional two hole or CJ head. There's different header gaskets available for the GT heads but the Edelbrock heads with four bolt holes per exhaust port match the CJ's.
