Default FE Scat Crank & Rods

I have a 427S/O with tunnel port heads and I was thinking of putting in a stroker kit. Custom is verry expensive but is it worth it? Scat has a kit that is much less money but will it live? Has anyone used the Scat crank and or rods?

Hi Doc,

I am running the Scat 4.125 Cast crank with the 6.535 Scat H-Beam rods in my 67 Mustang Drag car. The motor has Ross flat top pistons that create about 11.6 to 1 compression. The motor has right around 698 HP and runs 10.50s in a #3300 car. I'm getting about 128 mph in the 1/4,with 3 races so far. This is a little early to know about how reliable the parts are, but so far they seem to be working great. The motor spins up to 7500 effortlessly. Unbelievably really, like a small block.
With your TP heads, in a street Cobra, I would go with the 4.25 stroker, your heads will love the extra flow potential!!!
Good Luck, Tom.

FE Specialties thanks for the info that sure sounds good.
Do you or anybody know if the 4.25 crank will fit without any clearancing work.

Default There he is, he popped his head out of the shop for a second!

Hey Tom,

you failed to mention that your car is a full-dress type of street car, with full interior, with real windows, narrow 10" slicks, not stripped at all... very respectable.

It's pretty darn cool to watch you pull up to the starting line next to some of those high-dollar pro/stock type repeat race cars and blow their doors off! I wonder if you snuck a trans-brake in there or a looser stall-converter, you could finally launch that 427 into the 9s. Imagine, the 2004 NHRA magazine cover could say "FEs are awakened from the Dead for Drag Racing by Tom Lucas.... Little Shop Car goes 9s".

Let me know the next time you head to the track. I wanna see, I wanna see!
