I see those on ebay all the time. Price seems to range from $100-$140. On many you do not have to bid as you can use the "buy now" option. People I have spoken with say they are a fair deal.

Mike

I checked on Ebay and found one. I emailed the guy and ask him if it was a direct replacement. All I got back was May Need Mods.
With a response like that I didn't bid.

Fred, Geoge at Gessford is your best bet for this part.

Just a thought.

trularin and fred,
I'm telling you, call ATI. There is not a company out there that has made so many dampers for so many different applications.

atijohn

I went to the web site and looked up the number for a FE 918310. I not here to knock any company but I have a hard time spending $300.00 plus for some thing that I also have to buy and adapter 916580 and then I have to have my spacer sleeve shorten .375 to have my pullies line up with my alternator. Its not like socks where one size fits all.If you are connected to ATI in any way why don't you have them make the Damper to fit with out an adapter or modifing my sleeve.

This is like the E bay one "it may fit if I mod it some".

When you have to shorten the seal sleeve you're usually buying a 460 dampner....
BHJ builds a nice small diameter SFI approved dampner that fits and works on the FE's with no additional parts.....Innovators West builds a Viscous Dampner that's Aluminum and you can buy an aluminum short sleeve or shorten your own....but again, it's built for a 460.

Bill Elliot and Roush Racing aswell as every other NASCAR race team use the ATI Super Damper for a reason. Use what ever balancer you'd like. Remember you get what you pay for. If you end up using another product that may or may not work because you'd like to save money, make sure you save that money for the new crank you might be buying later. The Super Damper is the best engine protection money can buy.

ati

By your last response it looks as if I hit a soft spot. All I would like to know is will the Super Damper PN 918310 fit on the FE without modifing anything else. I have no problem with spending money (the wife knows that)as long as I know it will fit.

here's the poop!
the 918310 has a chevy bolt circle 3-.3200.
the 916581 is .375 long and converts to ford 3-3.300 circle.
shorten the spacer only if you want to run an oem ford pulley.
just like a wheel adapter
it's done like that because chevy trigger wheels, mandrels, and lower pulleys are more readily available and less expensive.

Default Thanks for the clarification.

But some of us would shudder to put Chevy parts on our cobras. I respect your products and your brand name, would definitely spend the money if it fit and worked without a trip to a machine shop.

Just one guys opinion,

Chuck Brandt

its not a chevy part. it is an ati part with a chevy pulley pattern to give the customers a better selection. you only need to run with the adapter if you use the ford pulleys. you could go with most any after market pulleys and have your equipment line up. if you're more comfortable going to your local machine shop to lose the .375, i can't believe that would cost enough to make a difference. besides the car will run better!

The BHJ FO-IBFE-7 FE Dampner uses stock position everything and no additional parts are required. It works well with a March 1910 Pulley set which has the correct Ford size Crank, water pump and alternator pulleys, A stock seal sleeve is also used.....

a damper is more then something to bolt pulleys to. it controls torsional twist. some manufactures of elastomer-type dampers use the single strip elastomer that has been proven effective on oem applications operated at low rpm's. bhj looks like one of those manufactors. georges engine looks like $$$ spent. the damper looks to be a new oem replacement. the super damper is the only damper designed exclusively for performance engines. it will be money well spent. ati resource and development has proven an increase in horsepower by just a switch from the oem style to ati super damper.
