Default Its finally here ...but

I finally got my Cobra. However, the builder generally just trashed me. The clutch didn't work. He didn't have the castle nuts on the tie rod ends (thank god the clutch didn't work!!). He painted it real nice and then just ding'd the heck out of it. So I got a lot of cleanup to do.

The 427SO hasn't been run since 96 and the guy claims he put oil in it but says my dipstick is too short. Any easy way to check oil other than the dip stick? How much oil should a 427SO with a standard sump have?

Default Drain the "oil" and..

Fill with the correct amount. You can use a piece of clean, strong baling or other wire to initially check the level.. if you are SURE about the actual amount needed. Mark the correct fill line with a small file notch, and make a hard loop or angle at the top, for a "stop".

Check ALL fluid levels.. my manufacturer delivered my transmission (new Richmond 6 speed!) filled only to the DRAIN plug... good thing I had it checked right away by a good tranny shop. Check your rear pumpkin also.
