Joe,
To answer your question, I am not aware of a duel plane "tunnelwedge" unit. I'm pretty sure it does not exist....But I have learned to never say never here
Steven
P.S. I have a factory ford single plain duel carb unit on my car and I am very happy with it. I have heard that one should be very careful when looking at the Dove mfg. units due to poor quality control.
Acouple things about that dove manifold , the seller claims it is designed for low and midrange power (BS) he also claims it is a good match for low riser heads , not a problem for you but still (BS) seller also claims a savings of thousands(BS-BS-BS) maybe a couple hundred.
steve , Ford actually did make a dual plane tunnel wedge ! I saw one sell on e- bay maybe six months ago

Ah this clears things up...the only dual plane dual quad was the Medium Riser then. I'm still curious how the single plane Tunnel Wedge acts in the lower RPMs (ie when you are just on a casual cruise )

I was just suggesting Bmalone would be a good guy to talk to regarding low rpm performance with these large bore/short runner manifolds in a relatively light car.
I cant think of any reason you could not use a tunnel port with a 428, exept maybe the cost.

Joe,
My engine is stroked with a 428 crank. I am amazed how well mannered the car is when casually cruising around town. The
car has a seamless transition of power through the rpm range. At highway speed just cruising along, the engine likes to be
above
2100 rpm. At 1800 rpm I feel an occasional "buck". That tendency diminishes almost linearly to 2100 rpm.
I am very happy with it. It looks great and performs well.
Steven
PS,
I talked to a fellow at the spring fling who was running the Dove unit. He bought it new from them. He said that his engine
builder found loose "casting flash" in the runners where it is hard to see. So please make sure to thoroughly inspect the manifold!
You don't want the engine to ingest that stuff.
There is a thread here in CC that deals with another potential problem which is porosity from the ports through the push rod
holes. I think they ended up sleaving a few holes to remedy the problem.
Here is a link to the thread FE high oil consumption problem
The High-Riser was also a dual-plane, dual carb intake.
There was an articule in a magazine 'bout 500 years ago (it was a stone tablet), where they mated the bottom of a HR intake to a Tunnel Port top. They did this so they would have a single-plane, dual carb intake for their HR heads. I know this had to be about '77 or maybe '78 at the latest. It was a neat setup and it was for a drag car. I did have a dual-plane, dual carb intake for MR heads that I ran on a 428SCJ in a Mach 1. It looked really cool.
