Default 428 cobra jet mustang exhaust

Has anyone tried to enlarge a set of stock 428 CJ 68' mustang exhausts? The stock size is 2 1/4". I would like to get 2 1/2" on there with a x-pipe.

Are there any better exhaust that will fit a 68 428CJ without going to headers??

you might check the 428 cobrajet registry for an answer. Also the Ford FE forum if no one can help you here. Good luck, G.

Default 428 exhaust manifold

You can have them extruded if you have the $$ not sure how much it cost nor where to have it done only heard about it from shop talk. For what it's worth they have an extrusion process whitch pumps a heavy grit claylike substance through the manifold under hydraulic pressure whitch removes material as it smooths the insides to a polished finish, maybe someone more knowledgable on the process can elaborate. I used a dremmel on my cj manifolds and tried to smooth them up inside but I grew impatient and gave up on it.
