As a newbe, could someone explain to me the term"sidewinder" and its application.

Nascar application designed to feed the cylinders evenly while turning at speed. Not the best choice for a street FE.

The "sidewinder" was designed to equal out the runner lengths as much as possible for a dual plane intake. It got it's name because the carb sits about an inch off centerline towards the driver's side.
It is an excellent manifold for a mild to medium-hot FE over 420 ci.
The carb position can cause problems if you have a shaker hood like a '69 or'70 Mach 1 but I don't think it causes any serious clearnace problems with a Cobra with a turkey pan.
