are cammer heads manufactured anywhere
shopping around online all i see are mostly medium riser heads for 427's and an occasional company that shells out high risers and tunnel ports. how come nobody does SOHC heads? or maybe does anyone know who does SOHC heads? seems like i remember seeing a post on here where someone had put aluminum cammer heads on a new shelby aluminum block and they appeared to be newly manufactured with new cam followers and everything. are these legendary heads all but gone? can you only get originals for a ****load of money? or can anyone cast you up some new ones..... links and feedback appreciated oh yeah, what happened to Dove Performance? they were the last lead i had on these, and their webpage/phone number are history. whats up with that? anyone got info on these happenings?

To answer your question: yes, if you want new ones, they will cost you a boatload of money. I received a quote, detailed, from Dove a few years ago for a set of cammer heads. The complete heads, including followers and valves, etc... came to $10K. There is a person who has machined his own set, last I heard, he was only doing it for himself and didn't want the liability (by liability, HIS personal bad feelings if his part(s) weren't perfect) of producing them for others.
Dove is still in business, I don't know if they will consider casting cammer heads anymore though.
Best bet is to buy originals. Aluminum originals are very expensive. Iron originals will give you a hernia.

When I last spoke to Jim at Dove (abuot 2 months ago) he gave me a quote for $31K for an all aluminum Cammer motor. A bit too rich for my blood.
He has 10 sets cast and ready to be machined according to my last conversation with him.
Good luck

I actually found my old quote from Dove.
'Racer net' prices were $5,000 for aluminum heads, $6,000 for magnesium heads. $850 for a set of 8 12:1 pistons. Stub shaft for $375, valve covers for $450, rocker arms and shafts $1,500, front cover $550 (seems high to me), cams (2) $800, timing gears with upper & lower sprockets $1,000, 22 cam bearings $500, SS valves $475, aluminum water pump $375, 2 chains $200, 8 spark plug tubes $200, etc...
Anyway, if they have the goods, and you want one, bring money. And keep a load of it in reserve for all the rest needed to complete the project. Good Luck

would the power advantage of cammer heads be worth it? or is the number negligable? what do you guys think about an all aluminum cammer running around?

If horsepower is your main objective than guys like George (Gessford Machine) , Keith (Keith Craft Racing), Tom (FE Specialties
), Bill (Southern Automotive) or I could build 600 to 700 hp all aluminum FE's all day long for thousands less than even an iron cammer.
But, there is absolutley nothing cooler than a 500+ ci all aluminum cammer between the frame-rails of your car.

Fitting it between the frame rails is the key...
Depending on the car, you will have to reroute the steering, notch out the foot boxes, relocate the foot pedals and notch out the inner fenderwells a few inches.
I have detailed pictures of a CSX Cammer (Dr. Sorkey's) car that was very nicely done. It took some effort to fit it in though...

Nope. I wish they were. They belong to a gentleman in San Antonio named Earl. I tried to buy one from him but could not afford it. The one pictured in my gallery is $36k for the all aluminum engine with the Hillborn.
Do you have a Cammer? Your earlier post led me to believe you may have an aluminum cammer... or am I reading too much into the post?
