Sizzler,

One thing you also have to consider is the machine shop bill. Take mine for example:

$6200 just in machine shop labor. But, I have no worries at all about the integrity of the engine.

Not sure if I was clear. $300 long block included a perfectly fine crank and set of rods, only needing examining, balancing, and new fasteners. $1000 machining bill.

Going with an efi system that includes coil packs also saved the price of all the MSD pieces (about $600 per Barry_R's list above).

I am fully aware that for some people the cost is secondary. And more power to the economy and all hail them. Some of us care (a little) about value for money spent.

I'm enjoying mine, I'm glad you're enjoying yours. I hope everyone gets what they want and are happy.

Happy Happy Happy

Sizzler,

I am tickled you have found an engine builder who does not pay for heat, air-conditioning, real estate, taxes, workman's comp, other salaries, machine work, telecom, a reserve for a NICE warranty, advertising, vacations for the employees, dues to the local town business club, etc.

Can you post the name of your buidler? Can I send you my next engine? What will the warranty be like?

The above slam in the same post that recommends chinese rods and cranks? The above slam on a site that is slatheringly (not without reason mind you) admiring of a kit made in Poland?

How do you think American steelworkers feel about the lack of

in China? How do you think the UAW feels about those as relates to Polish panel-beaters?

Think straight, think fair. You can't have just one set of outraged morals, that only applies when you feel like it. It's moral all the time or none of the time.

I don't have chinese steel in my motor. Do you?

My intentions and point were not patriotic in nature.

Chinese steel? Why do you think U.S. steel prices are so high? They're buying our ore, etc so even if it says made in China, nowadays it is a good shot it is originally yankee steel. I was mearly pointing out the fact you left out the other overhead a builder has. You made it sound like they are stuffing wads of $100 bills in their pockets and neglected to consider their overhead, and hell yes, the right to a profit. Maybe I mis-understood your point originally...

I think that Sizzler has a perfectly fine, modest rebuilt 390. There's nothing wrong with that - I ran one for years. They'll make 400 horses or so and will push you around town in fine fashion.

I just decided to own something bigger, faster, and meaner. That extra 275 horses cost a lot. Every time you tag that long skinny pedal on the right you get the payback!
