Default What cars had FE engines in them originally?

What models? Years?

Would it be possible to find them in salvage yards? Or have they pretty much been pick through?

Sorry for the noob question... Just learning about Fords. I could tell you every where a 396BB appeared in a Chevy.

Besides the passenger cars many pickups came with FE and FT engines also so keep that in mind when you are out shopping. Get a few Ford parts books to reference the casting numbers and do your homework to know what your looking at as many of these engines look similar to each other on the outside. It's getting hard to find these in the bone yard but they still pop up from time to time. You should be able to find a nice 390 for around $500 complete needing a rebuild. The 428's are more and the 427's are WAAAAYYYYY up there. Good luck, G.

Of the three, there were probably more 390's produced than anything else, they came in just about every car Ford made from the Mustang on up and in trucks also.......

About six months ago a guy at a towing/salvage yard offered me the whole car (late 60's to early 70's full size sedan) with a 390 and a C-6 still running, minor front damage for $250.00 bucks......just to get it out of the way,did not have the need or room for the car or motor, but told others about it that I thought may be interested,no one took the deal and it got crushed..........

Around here,390's are not that hard to find and every once in a great while you run across a 428,NO 427's,they never hit the junk yard around here.........

Look into older out of the way junk yards, best bet at finding any..........

BTW,if anybody runs across a mid to late 60's Lincoln or t-bird, I need the front disc brake calipers.........
