Default To much oil in the heads

What is the best way to restrict oil flow to the rockers.

Aren't rockers lubed by the oil coming out of the end of the pushrods? Could you find some pushrods with a smaller hole drilled through them?

Holley carb jets in the oil passage in the head that feed the rockers. Depending on what cam you have solid or hyd and type of heads ( oem or edel ) will determine jet size to be used. I've heard of others using a piece of pushrod tube also but have not used that method myself. I'm using .070 restrictors with a HV pump and solid lifters myself. G.

I get 95 psi and use a blueprinted melling HV pump, I use .070 restrictors with roller tipped rockers. I have never flooded the top of the engine.

Guys,
An old trick we used to use in the race cars is to put pipe cleaners in every other pushrod to restrict oil flow. Always worked great. Less oil in the top end produces more horsepower, but not enough blows an engine.

@ relaxinrob

Yeah, go ahead and try to fit pipe cleaners into FE pushrods .....

FYI: FE Pushrods are solid, no hole!

Her Mike

Maybe stock ones are, but aftermarket ones used with rollers aren't.

Nantucket hasn't told us what he's using, now has he?

Default 5/16 X 1 stainless

I took the valve covers off to adjust the valves, covered everthing with old towels and started the motor. I found the oil supply right-a-way. The hole was about 5/16 so I dropped in an old bolt and ran up the rpm to see if it would stay, got a longer bolt until I was satisfied it would not bounce around in there, 5/16 X 1 was just right. I did not drill or tap the hole just placed it in there loosely. I still have to fix a broken valve seal but it smokes a lot less, the rockets get oil and best of all it will get me thru the summer.
