Lakewood clutch fork boot?

Do you folks running a lakewood bellhousing on an FE have a rubber boot around the clutch fork? If so where do you get one or what application stock boot works?

We've never run them in any of the cars we have built. In my opinion, they are not needed unless you are off-roading your vehicle and there is a potential to get debris in the bellhousing.

Running without the boot will also aid in clutch cooling which you need far more than debris protection.

My $.02 worth anyways..

I ordered a stock big block mustang one from NPD this morning, I'll let you know if it fits. It looks like it _might_ ...

That's a good point, and since there are 3 large holes in the front of the motor plate it really doesn't seal much.



My concern was grit working into the throw out bearing...

C6OZ-7513-A (69 Mustang and others) works, doesn't completely cover the hole, leaving an open area about 1" or so towards the front or rear.

That's the one I got C60Z-7513-A. Not even close to looking like it will fit. I'm going to try to call lakewood for some support.

Sorry no there is not one available. Most people use a shifter boot trime it to fit. Thanks

Chuckbrandt Chuck you need to weld a spacer plate to the opening for the boot to work. 1" to 11/2" width flat steel. works Bent it a little for the curve. Down side is there is no air space to let hot out and cooler in. It will keep the weather out but how many times are you going to drive in the rain or snow?Make sure the lever has full range of travel. Rick Lake

Lakewood gave me a similar response although it was not for exactly the same application. I just took some sheet rubber that they sell at Harbor Freight for tool box liners, cut a piece to fit, and used weatherstrip adhesive to attach it. So far it has worked just fine.
