Anybody considering or using a Genesis block should read this.

I just received a Genesis block Fri, Feb 25, and the problem seems to have been corrected. There is an endmilled slot leading to the hole in the gasket. Judging by the slight discoloration in the slot, it appears to have been done at the factory.

Does anyone think that the extra weight of the added strength of the iron Genesis block is going to be a problem with front end handling, is there something like a 40lbs weight increase over a factory 427 block? I know you can regain some of this weight by using edlebrock heads and intake extra but isnt that the norm these days anyway. I would think that it woul dbe wise to keep some weight at the front and not make it to light to affect the steering to much either way. Anybody got any thoughts on this.

If it's handling you want, get a small block. They are muuuuch lighter and 500 HP is routine these days.

If it's looks, sound, and gee whiz you want, get an FE. I'm not sure there was ever a better sounding engine made.
