Default 390 and 360 rods

What is the lenght of a 360 rod? My book list a 360 and 390 rods as the same, 6.488". If the 360 has a 3.5" stroke and the 390 has a 3.78" stroke, are the piston different or the rods or both?
Thanks Dwight

I think there was a "short" rod for FE's....and a "long rod." Either way, there wasn't much difference at all.

There may be a different rod between the 360 and the 390, but my guess is that the piston compression heights are different.

I can tell you for sure when I get home this evening....I have some good FE reference books.

In all the info I've seen on FEs, the rods are the same but the pistons are different.
IE 406 and 428 rods are the same length even though the 428 has a longer stroke (Both have same bore). I guess putting 428 pistons in a 406 makes a 428 (along with changing crank )
Scat cranks may use different size rods though.

There are different rod sizes.....I remember it being such a small difference that it was actually funny....but I can't remember the exact measurement.....Right off the top of my head, it seemed like they were .030" - .060"difference.....Not much.

Your probably right, I must admit, I was mainly compairing 390, 406, 410, 427,428 rods when I was looking.
I'll look in my reference book tonight to see what it says.
(Although I guess that may be wrong )

360's do not have the same rods as 390's.

360's have skinny rods.

I sure wouldn't trust one with much horsepower.

I'd show you but I tossed mine.
