how to plumb oil lines?
Can someone help me with this! Starting at the block, on my 427 which hole is the out and which hole is the in? I have a picture in my gallery of my motor. From the block to the filter to the cooler and back? On my remote filter, which is the in and which is the out? This is something that I really need to be right!

What's the problem with sending non-filtered oil to the oil cooler first, before the oil is filtered and back into the engine?
ERA's diagram shows the oil is filtered first, and then sent to the filter, and then to the engine.

Dirty oil may start restricting the coolers flow capability.

I wonder how likely that is ?
What about, is there any dirt that is initially in cooler (during manufacture), that is flushed into the engine if the filter is placed before the cooler?

I've heard of at least one instance where there was a bunch of junk in the oil cooler that got into the engine on start up and ruined the bearings. I plumbed mine so the filter is on the other side of the cooler. I don't know what the odds are of having a problem by putting the filter in front of the oil cooler but they are practically zero with the filter in line after passing through the cooler.

The hotter the oil, the more easily it will flow through the filter media.
