Default Pond MS aluminum blocks in stock

I just received four Pond Motorsports aluminum sideoiler blocks. These blocks come with billet main caps with ARP studs, dry cylinder sleeves, side oiler oiling system and a C5AE-P casting number. I can sell these blocks fully machined ready to assemble for 4995.00 with the ARP main and head studs included.
We pressure check all blocks, line hone blocks, hone lifter bores, check decks, bore and hone with torque plates, oil galley work for better oiling, install all oil galley and water plugs. ready to assemble.
We can also build a nice short-block with these blocks for 7995.00 including, fully machined block, Scat cast steel crankshaft, Scat or Eagle 4340 H-beam rods, JE custom forged pistons, Mahle rings, Federal Mogul or Clevite bearings, zero balancing, Comp Cams flat-tappet camshaft and Ford Racing double roller timing set with blueprint assembley spec sheet.
Let us know how we may help you with your project. Thanks, Keith Craft

Keith,
How many of the Pond's are in driving cars that you have built so far, and what are some of the details and feedback so far from your customers?

Are these blocks proven yet, and if so, please explain how so?

What are the bore and stroke options you offer and what is the cubic inch for each of those options?

Thank You.

Keith,
Your $8000 short block offer is very interesting.
Will my current Shelby stageII heads bolt right on? Will pushrod length or rocker geometry change or is the Pond block stock deck heigth?
Appreciate answers to these and decooney's questions.

very interesting indeed . . .
I do know of at least one Pond block that was recently completed and installed. The car is not on the road yet, so I cannot speak to reliabilty, etc.

Default Four built so far

I will go back and look at who got the first four we had. One I know went to a customer as a bare machined block. One we built complete and went into like the 8th Kirkham built, we dyno tested that engina and installed in the car at our other shop. We then tuned it on the chassi dyno and drove for several days before we delivered it. That car went back to Georgia with the owner and everything seems to be fine. One of the blocks is going in a new Kirkham that the customer got about a couple of months ago. I can not think of where the fourth block went but I will see if I can.
The blocks are the stock height with the same oiling system as the original side oiler. The blocks come with a 4.240 size sleeve where we can hone with torque plates to 4.250 size or you can bore up to 4.310. We finish the cam journals, main journals to size in house. All other dimensions are checked when machined. The blocks have 5 steel billet main caps with 7/16 cross bolts. You can build engines in size from 431C.I. to 510C.I. depending on the stroke and bore combination.
The way that we check these blocks I have no problem standing behind the finish product as we do with all of our products. All of the original 427 demensions are used and all of the original peices will bolt on as well as the aftermarket peices.
I have worked with Robert Pond for over 20 years on his NHRA national record holding A/S Fairlane. I worked with him very closely on these blocks to cover all of the issues we felt needed to be done to make a nice block. He originally started out wanting cast iron blocks for his and others NHRA race cars because good originals were hard to find and would not take the power we are now making. We have done a few of the cast iron blocks with more coming but I told him there was a big market for the aluminum blocks as well so he decided to make them as well. Hope this helps a little. Thanks, Keith Craft

I must be number 4

I've shifted my focus from drywall tape and mud, to getting this engine installed and running. The finish work on the Snake Pit will just have to wait!

I am waiting on some of the iron blocks right now. We are working on three right now. The price is 1000.00 less than the aluminum blocks and come with billet steel caps on all caps with AFR hardware. Thanks, Keith Craft

It will be interesting to see how the Pond, Genesis, and Shelby blocks all shake out in value, cost, and quality especially over the next few years. It sure is nice to know we all have new options now.

Does anyone know if Ford has actually sold any of the Genesis blocks or short blocks as listed in their '05 catalog?

I think it will come down to whos block a person prefers. Some people want the original style side oiler will go with the Pond or Genesis and some people will want the Shelby name. I feel if all are checked out properly they will make a nice block. Keith
