Default It's always something!!!.... Comp cam rockers

Is anyone out there running an FE with Comp Cams roller rockers and the shaft support ends?????
I'm having valve cover clearance problems near the support ends. I'm using the black wrinkled tall aluminum COBRA...LE MANS covers.
What are other people using as covers and are you having any clearance problems.
Must I do grinding on the inside ends of the covers??
Thanks
Dave

I am running the Sig Erson roller rockers and the same valve covers as you but I don't have any clearance problems.

Here's an image.
Hyde..... It seems to be a valve cover lenght problem and not a height problem. The covers are tall enough.
Clois....I think it's too late for me to switch to Sigs. Valve covers would be easier.
It seems like the thickness of the aluminum covers is hitting the outside flat side of the support piece.

Imput....I need imput.

Start grinding.
Some valve covers have enough meat to make clearance, some thinner valve covers, or over-enthusiastic grinding will pop a hole thru the side
Isn't it nice how Comp manages to conviently leave this issue out of their instructions?

Dave,

Isn't that the end where you baffle is located? If so can you not put a notch in it?

Clois.... it's hitting before it reaches the baffle. Both ends of the cover is hitting at the same place ....see photo of one end of cover
Mike....I think I hear the grinder warming up......Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Hopefully the problem doesn't get worse as the cover slides on further and further.

Thanks for imput. Got to love this site and the digital camera.

My rocker stands were milled about .040, which then required custom push rods. I discovered this during my recent engine build and suspect it was done originally for the clearance problem.

Black wrinkle finish finned Le Mans valve covers.

I'm out grinding a cover right now. Very little at a time and checking as I go.
Also have a tube of JB WELD handy.
Will report progress.
