Default What cam for 428

Have almost stock 428, 040 over, lightly ported C8AE-H heads, 10.2 compression, stock alum. pistons and a "lazy" H-260-2 cam (260/272 adv, 204/216 @.050, lobe lift around .284/.302). Rockers seem to be 1.6, as the valve lift is .456/.484.
Headers, 750 Edelbrock carb.
What cam would you recommend for this engine without cutting pockets into pistons?

I dom not believe the rockers are 1.6 unless someone ordered special rockers for this engine. Most stock rockers for a FE are 1.76 ratio but will not check that. The cam card may be printed with that kind of lift since the SBF had 1.60 ratio. I think you need a camshaft in the 230/236 range but may be hard to find one with lower lift. The lift needs to be in the .530 range or below to work with the stock pistons more than likely. Good luck, Keith Craft

Yeah, I didn't believe either, the rockers are 1.6, but that values for the cam are actual measurements on the valvetrain. After that I've found this cam grind with those values. Don't know what the previous owner did to the engine. The rockers seem to be original. Have just installed new pistons, main and cam bearings (010 over), and all the machine work including valve job, head polishing and runner matching (widening).
The engine runs well, smooth, have to try it and there will be cam change during wintertime.
Would like to have "choppy" idle, don't care about torgue and vacuum, A BB has enough torgue in a 2300 pound Cobra either. Mostly street/strip driven.
Vacuum is nedet for power brakes only (no computer, have manual gearbox).
Thanks a lot about your advice.
