Squeaking in the under the valve cover!

I need advice here. I am on a new build with my sideoiler and about 200 miles since Keith had it. Now I am having a squeaking from under the passenger side valve cover at lower RPM (at least that is when I hear it). It is loud enough that it can be heard from in the car at stop signs. When I increase the RPMs, either I drown out the sound with exhaust or it goes away...can't tell which. I have not gotten under the cover (hot car) yet, but what should I be looking for and any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. There is new oil in it, just changed today (10W-40 per Keiths instruction sheet). good pressure..45-50 idle/hot and at speed, 70-80psi. I did look in the valve cover breather hole and I can see oil spraying around in there when I increase the RPMs of the car. What usually causes a squeak in the valve train?

Buzz I would get the cover of and look at the pushrods and make sure there is plenty of oil there and that one does not look hot on the end. I would also look at the rocker arms as well to see if anything is rubbing anywhere. Look at the pushrods to see if you can see any of them rubbing the pushrod slots in the intake. I would also make sure that the rockers are still set right. This would be a good ideal to do on both sides. Let me know what you find. Keith

Buzz, do not drive the car until you find out what is rubbing.

Metal to metal will make shavings in the oil and can distroy the engine.

Pull the cover and check the pushrod guide alignment, all rocker arms and all pushrods.

Next, make sure your engine mount on that side is secure and bolted.

After that, the exhaust can be rubbing on something.

What ever it is, you should find it before you break something expensive.

The notion of "We'll find it by letting it break" is not good when you are behind the wheel.

I ran into a problem like this on my 428. It ended up being I was using valve covers for non adjustable rocker arms with adjustable rocker arms, and the adjusters were rubbing on the baffle inside the valve covers. Fortunately, I caught this during the first 10 seconds or so of breaking in the engine, and there didn't appear to be any metal shavings or anything in the oil. A swap to some taller valve covers cured my problem. Don't know if this is what's happening with your engine, but I hope it helps.
